Southern Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients

4 large green tomatoes

Vegetable oil for frying

2 eggs

½ C milk

1 C all-purpose flour

¼ C cornmeal

¼ C bread crumbs

¼ C Epicure’s Southern Baked Mix

Black Pepper (Grinder), to taste

Sea Salt (Grinder), to taste

DIRECTIONS

Slice tomatoes 1/2 inch thick. Discard the ends. Put flour onto a plate. Using Epicure’s Piano Wire Whisk, whisk eggs and milk together in a medium-size bowl.

Mix cornmeal, bread crumbs, Southern Baked Mix and salt and pepper on another plate. For Gluten Free version skip bread crumbs, use Southern Baked Mix.

Dip tomatoes into flour to coat. Then dip the tomatoes into milk and egg mixture. Dredge in breadcrumbs.

In Epicure’s Perfect Pan , heat oil over a medium heat. Place tomatoes into the frying pan in batches.

When the tomatoes are browned, flip and fry them on the other side. Drain them on paper towels. Serve with your favourite Epicure Dip.
